Goals of the Wood County Humane Society: provide a clean, healthy shelter environment for animals that have been abandoned or removed from abusive situations; educate the citizens of Wood County in the principles and the practices of humane animal treatment; investigate and resolve reports of animal cruelty and abuse; find loving and healthy homes for the animals.
Adoption services include: physical exam from one of select vets in Wood county; all animals must be spayed or neutered before adoption can occur; first year's vaccines; rabies shot; feline leukemia test for cats; FIV test for cats; heart worm test/prevention for dogs; collar and ID tag; carrier for cats or leash for dogs. Animals adopted at WCHS must leave in a carrier or on a leash.
WCHS provides discount spay/neuter services to pet owners and caretakers in Wood county to help with the costs of spaying and neutering cats, when funding is available.

Senior Companions Program:
New in May 2008. Available to Wood County Residents as long as funding is available. Places senior cats and dogs with senior citizens.
