What is Habitat for Humanity?
Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical, Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing from the world and to make decent shelter matter of conscience and action. Habitat has built over 2000,000 homes in over 100 countries since its inception in 1976.
How does it work?
MVHFH builds simple, decent and affordable homes using as much volunteer labor, donated materials and financial contributions as possible. The home is sold to a qualified family at no profit with a non-interest bearing, long term mortgage.
Home Repairs?
Home Repair Ministry, a program designed to provide basic and essential home repairs to lower-income home owners. Teams of skilled volunteers and trades people perform energy saving upgrades, such as attic insulation or window replacements and/or other repairs. The aim of the Home Repair mission is to eradicate inadequate housing and make houses more energy efficient. (no ramps, stairs, railings)
