The 60+ Program was developed in 1978 by staff of the nursing division of the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department in response to documented community need. This program is jointly funded by the Area Office on Aging and the Health Department. The program goal is to provide health promotion/disease prevention services through public health nursing intervention, to urban, suburban, and rural elderly individuals who have limited access to prevention health care. This services are includes all of Lucas County. Services are provided in satellite locations throughout the county and in residences of selected elderly individuals. The following services are provided: Health Assessments and Screenings, Health Counseling, and Health Education.

Serving the health needs of residents of Toledo-Lucas County and Northwest Ohio. The mission of the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department is to continually strive for an improved quality of life for all citizens through health promotion, disease and injury prevention, and pursuit of a clean and safe environment. Clinical Services - Adult Medical, Pediatric, Children's Dental, Pharmacy, Prenatal (OB), Shots 4 Tots, STD clinic, TB testing and treatment, Travel and Adult Immunizations and WIC. Community Response and Preparedness - Epidemiology, Disaster Preparedness, Medical Reserve Corps and H1N1. Environmental Services - Food Protection, Rabies/Animal bites, Septic and Well, Rodent Control, Lead Prevention Programming. Outreach Services - 60+ Program, Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps, Disease Intervention Specialists - HIV/AIDS Prevention, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), and Teen Pregnancy Prevention.
