The Area Office on Aging Northwestern Ohio, Inc. Home Repair Program is especially designed to aid homeowners living in their own home who are 60 years of age or older living on fixed incomes in Northwestern Ohio. Safety and home preservation needs will be addressed, as well as modifications to help older persons live independently and comfortably in their homes. Please note this Policy statement "To ensure equitable distribution of funds, clients may participate in the program every five years."

Applicants meeting all of these qualifications will have the opportunity to participate in the program;
1. Applicants who are 60 years of age or older
2. Applicants who own and occupy the home
3. Applicants whose property taxes are current or on a payment plan.

Please be aware that we have a waiting list for this program.

All information provided has to be verified and processed. Please call to request application and send back along with a copy of the following:
SELF-DECLARATION OF AGE - Must be 60 years of age or older. Make sure date of birth is completed on application. Age is self-declared.
PROOF OF OWNERSHIP - To show you are a homeowner. The home must be owner occupied. Deed, mortgage, or land contract.
PROOF THAT YOU ARE CURRENT ON PROPERTY TAXES - Attach a copy of your property tax bill marked "paid" or a statement from your county treasurer's office.

Due to the limited amount of program funds available, applications will be processed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Your name will be placed on a waiting list for future funding if we are not able to serve you at this time. Once the application has been reviewed and eligibility is determined, you will receive a letter that your application has been received and it was accepted. Your name will be added to the current waiting list for Minor Home Repairs. Do not expect to be served immediately; you will only be called when we have reached your name on their waiting list. We will set up a time to discuss your home repairs. (Please note!) If the cost of the work to be done exceeds our funding limit guidelines or the unit would remain unsafe or of a major health risk, we will not be able to do the repairs requested.
You will be asked to sign a job agreement so that the repairs being done can be started. Upon completion of the repairs you will sign a form that verifies the project has been completed to your satisfaction and grants permission to the Area Office on Aging of Northwestern Ohio, Inc. to release payment to the service provider, The Service Provider guarantees the project for one year. Applications can be obtained by calling 419-382-0624.
