Advocacy and Protective Services Inc. (APSI)

APSI (Advocacy & Protective Services, Inc.) is a private, non-profit agency dedicated to protecting the rights of Ohioans with developmental disabilities. We advocate for the people we serve by helping to make their desires and needs known, especially when they cannot speak for themselves or if they have no other advocate. We do this by providing a full array of guardianship and protective services to individuals age 18 or older.

We fulfill our mission by providing a full array of guardianship and protective services to individuals age 18 or older. Although APSI provides advocacy and protective services that meet the needs of clients with minimal, moderate and intensive needs, APSI specializes in serving clients with the highest level of needs, primarily through full guardianship. As a full guardian to an individual, APSI has the authority to make all day-to-day decisions of a personal nature on behalf of the individual (and relating to the individual only, not their estate) including medical and dental treatment, behavior support programs, work, residential placement and quality of life decisions. 95% of all services APSI provides fall into this category.

Who We Serve
APSI provides services according to Ohio law for eligible adults (18 years of age and older) who live in Ohio, have a developmental disability, and are facing a situation or problem that requires services.
