Kinship Navigator Program- Evidence-Based Guiding Good Choices® Workshop (Session 4 of 5)

This 6-session evidence-based workshop series is for grandparents, relatives, or family friends ages 18 and up who are raising middle schoolers ages 9 – 14 with no biological parent in the home. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend all 6 sessions. Participants who attend all 6 sessions will be entered into a drawing for a $100 Meijer gift card (donated by the AOoA). This workshop is virtual via Zoom. Must be enrolled in the AOoA Kinship Navigator Program to register. We invite you to attend the Guiding Good Choices® workshop to fill your caregiver toolbox with skills to increase family bonds, promote healthy behaviors, and set clear boundaries. This evidence-based workshop is facilitated by certified workshop leaders, Marsha Rose, LSW, Supervisor of the AOoA Kinship Navigator Program, and Rhea Dawson, Kinship Navigator, AOoA Kinship Navigator Program.
This series has evidence-based proven outcomes for youth, including:
- Reduced alcohol and marijuana use by 41%.
- Reduced progression to more serious substance abuse by 54%.
- Increased the likelihood that non-users will remain drug-free by 26%.
- Reduced depression symptoms by 28% through the end of 12th grade.
