Kinship Navigator Program - Evidence-Based Child Traumatic Stress Workshop for Kinship, Foster, & Adoptive Parents (Session 1 of 3)

This 3-session evidence-based workshop series is for grandparents, relatives, or family friends 18 and up who are raising children with no biological parents in the home. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend all 3 sessions. Participants who attend all 3 sessions will receive a Kroger gift card provided by the Sophia Center (gift card amount to be determined). This is an in-person workshop, and no virtual attendance option is available. Lunch will be provided. Cab transportation is available. Sorry, no childcare for this event. Must be enrolled in the AOoA Kinship Navigator Program to register. We invite you to attend the Child Traumatic Stress Workshop for foster, adoptive, and kinship caregivers, sponsored in partnership with the Sophia Center. This evidence-based workshop is led by Sophia Center’s trauma expert, Diane Sweinhagen, LPCC-S, and Cassandra Quinn, BA, foster and adoptive parent.
Through this series, caregivers will learn about the impact of trauma on the development and behavior of children in kinship, foster
or adoptive parent care and gain the following knowledge and skills:
Respond appropriately to behavioral and emotional challenges of traumatized children
Help traumatized children develop healthy attachments
Help traumatized children recognize and develop their strengths
Help traumatized children develop coping strategies
Take care of themselves and seek support from others
