Under a new Ohio law that was signed on December 22, 2021 and became effective on March 23, 2022, nursing home residents may now have a camera installed in their own rooms for their own protection.

The law, called "Esther's Law," is named for Esther Piskor, who was physically abused while living in a Cleveland nursing home, and its aim is to help residents' families obtain proof when abuse or neglect are suspected.
