Become A Volunteer Wellness Workshop Leader

Are you interested in helping others take control of their life and manage their health conditions? If you're passionate about helping others, possess good communication skills and are comfortable in front of a small group then this training opportunity is right for you. The Area Office on Aging needs your help to improve the health of veterans with diabetes. We will be conducting a free five day training for people willing to lead diabetes workshops for veterans and others who have diabetes so they can improve their health. Lunch will be provided for free each of the five days.The Chronic Disease Self-Management and Diabetes Self-Management Programs or Healthy U are evidence-based and were developed and licensed by Stanford University. The program is taught by Master Trainers who are individuals that have been certified by Stanford University to train new leaders and to provide support. Once you complete training, you will be asked to lead a six week diabetes workshop for veterans and others with diabetes that meets for 2.5 hours one day a week. This 5 day training that will be held April 3rd-April 7th from 8:30 am-5:00 pm. There is no cost to attend this training.
